Damofalls UMC
OUR HISTORY
The United Methodist Church Damofalls originated from UMC Ruwa Circuit. It started as section group in 2005 with only 7 families under Reverend R Katiyo. It developed to a local preaching point in 2007 under Rev. M Murauro who was assisted by student pastor Karidzamimba (2008-2009). Holy Communion was served in the church member’s household. The church was led by Rev Rafemoyo from 2009 to 2010. The local preaching point developed to a circuit in 2010 under the leadership of Rev Rafemoyo. The members would worship at an open space at one of the residential stand of one of the church members. One of the church members volunteered to make wood benches for the church. Due to increase of membership, church members donated chairs which replaced the benches. Preachers where from the church and other few selected members of the congregation. The congregation went on to purchase a church stand in 2010 at USD51 208.70. The first deposits of 8230.43 for the church stand were made through donations. The congregation moved to the church stand in 2012 and worshipped under a makeshift tent. The church then built a wooden cabin for the part-time worker at the church stand and a septic tank. The church kept its chairs and in the males toilet. The temporary church building was then built from beacons allocated to the 4 section groups (St Timothy, Shekhaina, St Dorcas and St Paul). The first appointed pastor at the church was Rev J Mwarumba who served for 4 years from 2011. The membership increased after completion of the church building in 2013 and 2014. Since its establishment the church has faced a lot of challenges. Due to financial constrains the church found a lot of difficulties to raise the church building. From its foundation until 2013 the membership had been small and a few families assisted with finances to build the temporary church. A few members had become active in the church activities. The time of greatest problems was during the hyperinflation era. The church is now currently under the leadership of Rev Nyasha Kazembe Mutanga. The year 2015 has been the greatest year and the church is promising more since the average members are young adults who have great potential of making a difference.
